Dr Mariza Stagaki

Dr Mariza Stagaki is a Clinical Psychologist and BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at King’s College London and has extensive experience working across NHS and private settings with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
Mariza has trained in a number of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Trauma-Focused Psychotherapy, Systemic Therapy and embodied approaches to psychotherapy. Her experience includes working with anxiety and panic, depression, complex trauma, relationship difficulties, personality difficulties and psychosomatic or medically unexplained symptoms. She has also worked extensively with people navigating the psychological impact of physical illness, migration, cultural transitions and difficult or abusive relationships.
Mariza brings warmth, curiosity and compassion to therapy, creating a space where clients can explore not only the difficulties that have brought them to therapy, but also the deeper patterns and experiences that may underlie them. Her approach is integrative and relational, with a particular interest in understanding how earlier experiences can shape the ways we relate to ourselves and others in the present, including patterns that may emerge within the therapeutic relationship.
Alongside developing a deeper understanding of these patterns, Mariza draws on CBT, compassion-focused and experiential approaches to help clients develop new ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions and relationships. She believes that therapy should not follow a one-size-fits-all model and works collaboratively with each person to develop an approach that reflects their individual needs, values and goals.
Alongside her clinical work, Mariza has research expertise in attachment, mentalizing and childhood trauma, and has published research in collaboration with UCL and the Anna Freud Centre. She offers therapy in both English and Greek.
